Men's Pennants - March 18th

Topic: Mens Golf
All of our teams were in action on Sunday.  The Bissett team had a tough match against Akarana at Akarana.  Over the years they have been a very strong club so our narrow victory 4.5-3.5 is a great effort by the team.  Wins to Cameron Harlock (4/3), James Eng (2up-with a 30' putt on the last hole), James Ashwin (3/2) and Scott Robertson (6/4) assured us of something from the match.  Then Rakesh Patel got up and down on the final hole for the vital half.  Well done, guys and it doesn't get any easier because next week at Pukekohe they are playing Titirangi.
Points after 4 rounds - REMUERA 24.5, RAGGC 23.5, Akarana 20.5, Titirangi 18, Maungakiekie 14, Howick & Pukekohe 9.5 and Whitford Park 8.5

The Presidents team were up against Clarks Beach at Waiuku looking for a good win to move us up the table.  Good wins to Logan Driver, John Sims, Andrew Meng, Michael Bartlett, Tomas Shaw, Karl Jorgensen & Andrew Hipkiss contributed to our big 7-1.  This moves to 2nd on the table on 19pts, 2 behind the leaders, Pakuranga whom we play at Pakuranga this Sunday.  Just behind us are Titirangi and Windross Farm who play each other at Pakuranga too.  This will be a vital round to work out the play-off contenders.

The Captains team went into their round at Royal Auckland/Grange in the lead but recorded only 2 wins (Daniel Whittaker & Michael Tran) to slip back.  Chamberlain Park lead on 18pts from Pakuranga (16) and Remuera (15).  Next up they play Titirangi at Whitford Park looking to get their season back on track.

The Inter Club teams had mixed fortunes.  The Division 2 team beat Formosa 5-3 at Royal Auckland/Grange, with wins to Steve Callinan, Dave Dengelo, John Etzine and the Pakieto brothers - Dave & Gillies.  They are on 15pts - mid-table, 3.5pts from a play-off place.  This week they are at Pakuranga playing the home team who are currently in 2nd place.

The Division 3 team lost 2-6 at Waiuku against Royal Auckland/Grange.  The wins were recorded by Craig Castles & Jits Doolabh.  They have 12.5pts and need to pick up some big wins to get back into play-off contention.  This week they are at Howick against Windross Farm who are currently just above them.
