9 Hole Women's Golf update
Topic: Womens Golf
Yesterday’s scramble saw 11 hardy ladies attempt to play 9 holes. Congratulations to Paula Hollies, Amanda Boberg and Anna Macaulay who persevered in wind and rain for the whole 9 holes. The rest (sensibly?) retired!
We will try again.
Next fortnightly scramble is Monday 23rd July. Hopefully better weather might prevail.
DON’T FORGET TO SIGN UP FOR OUR NEXT MAJOR EVENT.
9 Hole Ladies Greensome Foursomes - Wednesday 1st August
In Greensomes, both players tee off and then choose which ball to play from there. The player whose drive or tee shot is not chosen plays the second shot, and they then play alternate shots from there until the ball is holed out. On the next hole, both players again tee off and the process is repeated. The average handicap of the pair is used. Best Stableford. N.B. Cards cannot be entered for handicapping.
Players need to sign up in pairs (or singles and we can match with other singles). Each player pays $2 at pro shop on the day.
Closing date Wednesday 25th July. Sign up on the registration form in the locker room or alternatively email sabra@cosmouv.co.nz
Note In the club handbook this has been wrongly listed as being held on Thursday 2 August. Please ignore.
WEEKLY ETIQUETTE/TIP
Flag stick colour distance indicators
Red - pin at the front of the green
Yellow - pin in the middle
Blue - pin at the back.
N.B. This is written on the card for your future reference.
Waiting for greens staff on green when flag is out
If ground staff are working on the green and have the flagstick removed, do not play onto the green until the flag is replaced in the hole. Green keeping staff have the right of way at all times.
Shadows and movement on putting green
It is important to stand still and be quiet when another player is putting so as not to distract them. When it is sunny, make sure your shadow does not fall across the line of another's putt. When attending the flagstick always stand to the same side as the shadow of the flagstick. Hold the stick at arm’s length to avoid your feet damaging the edge of the hole.
