Women's Golf Update

Topic: Womens Golf

There was a great turnout for the annual ‘Invitation Day’, with visitors coming from as far afield as Wairakei and Wellington. Two ladies came on the 6am ferry from Waiheke - all very keen to play the Remuera Golf Course! Fantastic feedback from participants, all declaring the course is in excellent condition. And what a superb prize table for the lucky winners, with the top 14 pairs all collecting prizes on the day.

Winners of the day were Jane Lewis and her partner Jane Parlane from Waiheke (a past RGC member). They had a combined stableford score of 75 points.

It’s a sure sign we’re getting to the end of the competition year when the Gold Medal is played for … and today the coveted gold medal was up for grabs.

With only one medal being presented covering all divisions, this is always hotly contested. CONGRATULATIONS to ROSA LEUNG who was the winner on the day.

Final Gold Medal Results:-

1ST = Rosa Leung

2nd = Catherine Wharfe

3rd = Nicola Judd

For those not playing in the Gold Medal round, the Consolation Nett competition was held with the following ladies being winners in their respective divisions:-

SILVER = Joan Reeves

BRONZE 1 = Juliet Johnson

BRONZE 2 = Margaret Ward-Holmes

BRONZE 3 = Maureen Williams

Full results are posted in the Ladies’ Locker Room.

On Thursday, 15th November the Bridge Ladies are very kindly sponsoring what promises to be a Fun Day – format to be “Hidden Partners”. Draw is on DotGolf. Please bring $10 for your Lunch at Registration – this will be collected when you get your scorecard prior to play. Shotgun Start is at 8am so please report by 7:30am and allow time to walk out to your tee.

And the last ‘competitive’ event for the year is the Club Champs Foursomes – a match-play event that commences with qualifying on Tuesday, 20th November and continues with match-play, culminating with the Finals on the 29th November. Last chance to enter (either in Locker Room or see Karen) – Draw will be done on Thursday.

Our Rules experts (Esther Cowper, Helen Peters and Chris Carroll) have a series of Rules Meeting to discuss new rules coming into effect in January. The next one is tomorrow (11:30am), with the final session scheduled for Thursday, 22nd November at 1:30pm.
