18 Hole Women’s Weekly News – Tuesday 19 March 2019

Results

Winners of the second round of the LGU are: Julie Hawkes (net 68, Silver) Vicki MacMillan (67, Bronze 1) Mary Pope (66, Bronze 2) and Pamela Howden (64, Bronze 3).

Last Tuesday there were 9 twos (Judy Hart, Helen Brewster, Eva Huang, Annie Tam, Nicola Judd, Ann Bone, Lyn Kempthorne, Pam Donnelly, Rosa Leung). Thursday there were three twos (Lyn Kempthorne, Vicki Salmon, Helen Peters).

Club Match Play Championships Match Play (21 and 26 March)

The finals of all the championships and plates are on Tuesday 26 March.

Prize giving for these championships will take place at lunchtime, so it would be great if as many of you as possible could plan to stay a bit longer that day to support our winners.

We will also be giving out prizes to the winners of the first two rounds of LGU and the Nancy MacCormick foursomes.

Thursday 21 and Tuesday 26 March

For those not in the Club Match Play champs there will be tee-times available for general play and a scramble.

Thursday 28 March

We are hosting Section B of the 18 Hole Match Play, so there will be limited tee-times available for our members.

LGU and National Teams Qualifying (Tuesday 2 April)

The tee-times will indicate where you should book based on your handicap index. Please take a moment to check you are in the right spot before you book.

National Teams Qualifying – this is a New Zealand Golf event, entry to this is $3 with all the money going to the District Associations (in our case Auckland Golf Association). The players with the top four net scores go on to play at a District final, where the format is four ball. This will be at Howick on Wednesday 15 May.

Pairs Day (Thursday 4 April, entries close 28 March)

Entries close Thursday 28 March for this event. The format is combined stableford and this will be followed by a plated lunch in the Tui Lounge. Please see the poster on the noticeboard for all the details including how to register and pay.

Charity Day (Tuesday 16 April)

As announced at our Cocktail party, we are holding a Charity Day on Tuesday 16 April. This is immediately after coring week, and the format will be Pinehurst (also known as American) Foursomes, so cards won’t count for handicapping. The event is also open to 9-hole members and you can partner with an 18 hole or 9 hole member. Register by putting your name down on the entry sheet in the Locker Room and pay your entry fee ($20) in the Pro Shop. All funds raised will go to the Halberg Foundation.
