Women's Golf Update

Topic: Womens Golf

18 Hole Women’s Weekly News – Tuesday 7 May 2019

Firstly, well done everyone. The results of the third attempt at using the new booking system for LGU were much improved. Inevitably as the tee-sheet fills up, those of you who are late making a booking are going to find it harder to book in a timeslot for your division and will have to take whatever is available. Some of you have queried why we are not playing in handicap order anymore, the terms of LGU are set by NZG and simply state “where feasible, it is recommended that clubs should draw the Silver and Bronze divisions separately”. So, there is no requirement to do other than what we are.

Secondly, this year there is no entry fee for the mid-week women’s eclectic competition, sponsored by St Andrews Village. Accordingly, you are all able to enter and give it a go. Also, this year you will be able to enter rounds on both Tuesdays and Thursdays. Full terms of the competition are in the Terms of Competition manual in the women’s locker room.

Results

Last Thursday scramble winners were: Silver/Bronze1 – Ann Lash (41 points) Judy Kwok (36) Susie Simcock (34); Bronze 2/3 – Mary Pope (37) Paula Christian (35) Margaret Ward-Homes (34). There two twos - Vivian Zhu and Ann Lash.

Your winnings have been credited to your house account, which you can see on the Remuera website under Membership/My Account.

Autumn Handicap – Tuesday 14 May

The draw has been done and entered on DotGolf, there is still room for some more players. If you would like to be included in this fun competition, please let Julie know.

Masters Trophy – second round by 30 June

The second round of the Masters’ match play is now underway. These matches are to be played by 30 June. Tuesday 28 May is a stableford scramble, so could be a good day to schedule your matches.

Pennants

What a fantastic result for our A Pennants team who won the A Pennant. It was a closely fought competition, with only two points separating the top four of the six teams going into the final round. We played the leading team (RAGGC#1) and had a superb win and were top scorers on the day. Well done everyone and a special thank you to Laraine as selector and all the caddies.

The pennants season is drawing to a close, with only the Betty Faesen team with a match to play on 19 May.

Well done to everyone who participated, this is how we are placed:

Midweek Sect A

Midweek Sect B
